Frances B. Dietz

For more than two decades, Frances Dietz, better known as Fran, was a legacy at RHS. Fran began as Kilt Band volunteer and quickly earned the title of "Kilt Mom." She not only supported her daughter's Highland Dancer teammates, she could often be found in the Kilt uniform room, sewing lost buttons onto jackets and mending torn kilts. Whatever was needed, Fran was "mom" to all of the Kilties, even after her two children had graduated. As a former drum major at Venice High, Fran understood what kind of commitment was needed to support a band program, which she did for years as a Kiltie Band Booster Board Member.

In 1982, Fran expanded her commitment to Riverview, becoming treasurer of the newly formed RHS Foundation. For 20 years, she oversaw the foundation's finances and helped grow the group's fundraising efforts by hosting several events, such as the First Among Equals Program and the Ram Classic Golf Tournament. Fran was also a dedicated supporter of the Vision Quest Mentoring Program.

Fran found other ways to support RHS. She hosted many school related luncheons at her beautiful home and gave her time and talents to support the Spring Arts Festival, the RHS Renaissance Program, RHS Open House, and the school's Brick Walk of Fame.

Fran's community service extended beyond the Riverview campus. She was a passionate member of Junior League for four decades and served on boards and committee for PALS, Teen Court, March of Dimes, American Heart Association, Cotillion Club, and Girls Inc.

Fran Dietz passed away in 2022 and is survived by her children, Alison (pictured)  and Pepper, along with four grandchildren (pictured), three of whom graduated from or are still attending her beloved RHS. Her many contributions to the school, its students, and staff, have left a lasting legacy at Riverview and beyond.
